To enjoy your candle safely and get the best possible burn, always place it on a stable, heat-resistant surface away from draughts, children, pets and anything flammable. Before each burn, trim the wick to approximately 5 mm to encourage a clean, even flame. Allow the wax to melt evenly across the surface where possible, particularly on the first burn. Never leave a burning candle unattended, and do not burn for more than 4 hours at a time.

Caroline's Journey

Blended Aromas began in 2017, at home in Essex, surrounded by the happy chaos of two young boys and two dogs. I loved the comfort of lighting a candle, but I wanted to understand more about what I was bringing into our home.

So many candles I found were made with paraffin wax and synthetic fragrances. I started researching alternatives, looking for something that felt closer to nature and more thoughtful in its ingredients. That curiosity led me to soy wax and essential oils—and eventually to pouring my own.

I chose soy wax as a plant-based alternative to paraffin and fell in love with the complexity of essential oils: fresh citrus, soft florals, grounding woods and earthy notes. Blending them became a small creative escape, a way to make something personal amid the busyness of family life. Each scent began with a feeling I wanted to create at home.

Friends started asking for candles, and small batches soon became a regular part of my days. As the boys grew and life became busier, candle-making took a quieter place, but it never disappeared.

Nearly ten years later, I decided to give Blended Aromas the attention it deserved. Today, I still blend and hand-pour every candle myself at home in Chelmsford, with four mood-inspired scents and seasonal editions.

For me, a candle is more than decoration. It’s a familiar fragrance, a gentle glow and a little invitation to pause—to make an ordinary moment feel like your own.
